from the photographer… “I was born in Florida, so it’s natural that my heart lives and breathes for the ocean. Growing up in Florida, and living in the Seattle area for a while – my favorite spot was sitting by the water. There’s this calming feeling when you’re sitting there watching the ocean. Now, living in the Midwest, it is very rare for me to be able to still experience that. You don’t see a lot of Ohio based photographers shooting beachside/coastal weddings – and it’s something I yearned for. Fortunately for us, Lake Erie is a few hours north, and after doing some research – I decided to take my love for the ocean, and turn it into my dream styled wedding. Ohio brides who have a heart for the beach, are completely able to have an intimate, gorgeous coastal elopement or wedding if they take advantage of the gorgeous lake we have!”
“I found this amazing lighthouse in Marblehead, Ohio – and knew it was the exact place I wanted to use as our location. It had the water crashing against the rocks, and the perfect backdrop of a working lighthouse. Crystal Collection Events helped me map out a plan for the shoot. We used a private beach in Huron, Ohio for our first location – and drove to the Marblehead Lighthouse for Bride & Groom portraits afterwards. The marbled sweetheart table from Queen City Vignette was dressed up perfectly with mismatched goblets, succulents, sea glass and gorgeous plates. It was a unique take on beachside weddings that I have not seen before. We used an extra-large table runner that draped beautifully and added that elegance we hoped for.”
“Hana from Hanako Florals did an incredible job! She created a beautiful assortment of designs, utilizing greenery, succulents and touches of blush flowers. I was totally amazed. Hana even brought a simple – yet amazing – succulent crown. The bouquets had hand-dyed silk ribbons from A Ribbons Nest wrapped around the stems. It looked so beautiful flowing in the wind throughout the shoot! I was in love. Our cake designer, Cheryl, from Heavenly Confections – blew us away with a three tier cake dawned with hand crafted sugar succulents, and brushed with silver edible paint. It had amazing pops of greens and blues – which fit the color palette to a T. I can’t tell you how perfect the gown choice was! When doing research for this shoot, I saw so many gorgeous lace dresses. And while that look is beautiful, I wanted to have something unique. Trousseau Bridal provided a jeweled dress with a detachable tulle skirt by the designer Theia. It sparkled! The definition of elegance. It took beach wedding and totally bumped it up a notch. That oomph of glamour was exactly what I was dreaming of. Our models, Courtney and Harley are high school sweethearts who are actually engaged! They are getting married in July 2018. They were totally emotional being in their wedding attire – and it was so sweet capturing them together. The love they share is a fierce, unconditional love – and I am so blessed to have had them as a part of this styled wedding.”
