Take a look below to check out this featured wedding in Amsterdam for all of your destination wedding planning desires! This album captures the gorgeous city of Amsterdam, but also features the most gorgeously choreographed timelessly romantic wedding inspiration details.
From the Stylist Abroad…What’s more idyllic than the idea of escaping to a far off place to share your love and exchange vows? Brides often dream of it but only have glimpses of what their options are. That why as a bridal hairstylist who has extensively worked in destination weddings enjoy creating styled shoots wherever I travel to show how many amazing things are possible. Destination weddings aren’t just tropical white sand beaches. Instead lets travel a little north to the Netherlands.
I wanted to showcase iconic features of the Netherlands while also embracing a sweet, old world romance. The greenery and hidden gardens juxtaposed to the canals and ornate architecture was a vital inspiration point in this styled shoot. This stunning styled shoot perfectly captures the charm of Amsterdam along with its garden escapes. To start this entire endeavor I turned to the media I thought would best allow me to connect to wedding vendors half way across the world: Instagram. Literally reaching out to vendors and pitching this amazing (and perhaps a little crazy) idea hoping they would see the vision and be inspired as I was. Fortunately, early on I connected with Michaela from Lovely & Planned. She is a planner all other planner’s should aspire to be and I cannot recommend her high enough to any bride who may be near her. She was excited for this whole, beautiful concept and even when I presented possibly crazy requests,(like a historic wooden boat for the canals) she didn’t hesitate. Yes, we even got the boat. We started working together February 2019 and planned the next 5 months together, going over ideas, vendors, logistics, everything to bring it all together. It goes to show how much is possible especially when you have a planner who knows the destination location
Our couple was a real couple and were more than excited to spend the day highlighting the attraction of the their home country. The venue (Tassenmuseum ) is unique, historic building and actual wedding venue. All the vendors that collaborated on this project cater to brides all around the world. They’re not only well versed in the specific needs and wants but are excited to make dreams come true. For authenticity to the Netherlands we even acquired a Bab (a Dutch wedding officiant). Since we wanted to truly showcase the versatile allure of the Netherlands ( and specifically Amsterdam) along with Tassenmuseum we took a cruise on a historic wooden boat (from Rederij ’t Smidtje) through the iconic canals to the delights of all the people about who cheered on our couple convinced they had witnessed a real wedding. It’s warm wood tones and strained glass created such lovely, soft lighting with an intimacy where time seemed to stand still. Beyond the canals a stroll through the streets and across the adorably arched bridges was a must of the quintessential Dutch imagery. Nothing compared to all the intricate architectural details paralleling the lace details in the brides dress both coexisting as if perfectly coordinated. There’s so much charm and diversity in this city it’s impossible to not fall in love yet you can make any event your own.
Destination weddings are more than tropical escapes and lovely beaches. I want brides to see all the options they have to venture to new places and make their special day as unique as their love. Your readers will love the fun whimsy blended with romantically classic inspiration not to mention it’s all approachable. It’s came together as a real wedding would all starting with an idea and a person traveling somewhere new. This could be the inspiration they need to really pull off the destination wedding of their dreams once they see how possible and realistic they can be.
