Moody and Romantic Cider Inspired Fall Styled Shoot with Bohemian Flair in Virginia

Styled Shoots / October 31, 2019

This stunning editorial from e. losinio photography blends moody, romantic cider inspired fall elegance for a fabulous fall styled shoot with a bohemian flair in Virginia. Cake and Lace’s favorite aspect of this shoot is how classic and cohesive all of the details are that come together so seamlessly. We love the apples and florals incorporated in this shoot to convey the perfect mix of fall and romance. Don’t forget to click on the video link below to get a glimpse of this beauty!

From the photographer:

The goal with this shoot was to feature this cidery wedding venue and create an apple-themed fall wedding that was tasteful and elevated. We loved the use of black, but wanted to weave the color throughout in a way that was unexpected and didn’t feel too dark overall. A creative escort display was also a highlight, along with a focus on the guest experience by having a fun mobile bar truck.

Colors & Style: Black and a variety of deeper and lighter reds and a rusty, terracotta orange were the focus colors with accents of copper and gold and some ivory to keep the palette from becoming too dark. Greenery was incorporated to keep the shoot feeling natural throughout. The style encompassed a bit of a bohemian flair with a polished elegance that kept the design feeling comfortable and intimate without becoming too relaxed.

The Love Story: West Coast edge meets East Coast elevation. A classic tale of boy meets girl, this couple originally met at a cidery one Fall while traveling. Now living together amidst the rolling hills of Virginia and ready to tie the knot, the couple planned a moody, romantic fete held at Mt. Defiance Cider Barn in Middleburg, VA. Enjoying cider is one of their favorite things to do, so they decided to incorporate apples throughout as a nod to the cider-making process and the approaching Autumn season. They united not only their lives, but her wild and free west coast vibe and his more sleek and polished east coast style.

Shoot Description: For details, the bride’s edgy personality was on full display as she wore a rose gold engagement ring with two stacked rose gold wedding bands featuring a band of black diamonds in the center. She also wore a beautiful and light cape overtop a sweetheart crepe fit and flare dress to encourage brides to think beyond just adding a veil for their wedding day fashion. For the ceremony, sleek garden chairs with black legs were used for the guest seating set amongst an almost magical forest-like backdrop. A deep red persian rug was used for the couple to stand on at the arbor, adding a touch of bohemian style. Signature cocktails included an apple cinnamon moscow mule, which the couple enjoyed in black and copper moscow mule cups, a break from the traditional all copper style mugs. For the reception seating escort display, guests had to pick their seat by viewing rows of apples lined on a wooden board with guest names and table numbers written on large magnolia leaves.

During cocktail hour, a fun mobile bar cart sat outdoors featuring a variety of bottles of the venue’s cider, along with a large sign that read “This love is brewing” as a play on not only the process of making cider, but also the mobile bar’s name, “Bubbles and Brews.” The texture of velvet linens used for cocktail hour and the reception was an element that made for a more interesting guest experience. A velvet, red vintage sofa with rattan side tables and apples spilling out of a crate created a cozy, intimate setting for the couple to enjoy those first few newlywed moments.

Inside the cider barn, terracotta-rust gauze fabric ran down the center of a farm table, with a garland of greenery and freshly picked apples placed on top. Black taper candles matched the sleek black and gold flatware. Copper chargers with white matte china were juxtaposed against the black matte china set on ivory velvet linens on the round reception tables with tall florals that incorporated miniature apples throughout the arrangements. Ivory taper candles also sat inside black and gold candle holders on top of the mantle in contrast to the black candles located on the farm table directly in front of the mantle to symbolically bring full circle the uniting of two individuals, from two separate coasts, who found love in a cidery.
