When I met with Katie and Nick and they booked me for their wedding I was ecstatic. When they told me they wanted to do their engagement session in San Francisco and Sonoma, I peed my pants. Okay, that didn’t really happen but it does fully express how excited I was. So I packed my bags, baby and parents and headed off to the bay area.
I met Katie and Nick, in person, at a little teriyaki shop in Pacific Heights. This is the neighborhood they met and hung out in most when they lived in San Francisco. It is quant and hip and has all the quintessential row houses. We really wanted the feel of San Fran, however, it is most important to tell their story. So although we didn’t get specific shots of the Golden Gate Bridge or Pier 39, we got Katie and Nicks version of San Francisco. This is the version I like.
We headed from there to Sausalito to catch a view of the city and a glass of wine in their favorite tasting room. It was such a hot day and Nick and Katie were game for everything. It felt like we had been friends forever. They are easy to talk to and hang out with. When they are together they feed off each others energy and are conscious of making sure the other is having a good time. You can tell they put each other first.
We finished at their favorite winery in Sonoma. They spend many day trips at Nicholson Ranch drinking wine and overlooking the valley. I can tell why. The people here were so kind and helpful. They wanted to congradulate them and pour them wine. We got to wander the property and see all the grapes on the vines and the rows and rows of the vinyards. I could seriously have spent forever with these two. I had to force myself to stop taking photos and not infringe on their dinner plans. I cannot wait for their wedding next July!
Thanks for the adventure Katie and Nick!
