Are you in need of a few rustic wedding ideas? If so you’re in the right place! Throughout this article, we’ll be making a few suggestions to fuel you with inspiration for your own wedding planning.
We don’t need to tell you that farmyard and rustic chic styled ceremonies and receptions are all the rage at the moment, and here at Cake and Lace, we’re excited to get on board with this trend!
So without further ado, let’s dive into our top picks.
Wedding Favors
Wedding favors are a gorgeous way to decorate your wedding breakfast or reception and the perfect token of appreciation to give to your guests.
They scream ‘thank you for making my day so special’ and trust us, your guests will appreciate all the time, effort and expense that’s gone into providing them.
A unique wedding favor that ties your rustic chic theme together is the kind of finishing touch that’ll take your guests by surprise, and ensure they won’t forget your event in a hurry!
Below are some of our favorite ideas:
1.) ‘Love is Brewing’ Tea Bags
If you’re thinking of hosting a vintage-style afternoon tea for your wedding breakfast, then pretty looking tea bags would be a perfect choice.
When ordering tea bag favors, you should always ask yourself the following questions:
- Is everything already assembled or will you have to prepare a few things when your order arrives? This is important to know so you can schedule your time and make sure you leave yourself enough space to get everything ready for your special day. Plus, you’ll need to know in advance whether you have all the equipment and materials to finish the favors off.
- Does the packaging and font match the theme, vibe, and color scheme of your wedding?
- Do you want thank you tags attached to your tea bags?
- How many tea bags are in a set? You’ll need to know this, so you don’t order too much or too little. Unfortunately, this is easier than you’d think to get caught out on.
- How big are the tea bags? This is useful information to have because you’ll need to create enough storage space to house them before your wedding.
- What flavor tea is it? Do you want something specific? If so, be sure to ask about that!
Needless to say, much of what’s discussed here can be applied to any kind of wedding favor (not just tea related ones!).
2.) Tea Tin Favors
If the rustic looking tea bags are too rugged for your tastes, then perhaps a tea tin will be more the ticket. These are ideal if you’re looking to fuse rustic chic and vintage charm together!
3.) ‘Love is in Bloom’ Wildflower Seeds
Seeds are the perfect wedding favor if you’re hosting a garden or farmyard style ceremony or reception.
They’re especially fabulous if you’re hosting a spring or fall time wedding because your guests can then go home, immediately plant their seeds, and then see them bloom! How sweet is that?
Or, if you and your partner enjoy gardening or exploring the great outdoors together, then this kind of favor is ideal for adding your unique stamp to your special day.
When purchasing seed favors, you might want to think about the seeds you’re giving your guests. Did you have a signature flower at your wedding? If so, you might want to consider giving those seeds out as favors (providing they’re not too hard to grow).
The below example showcases wildflower seed mix. This is both a gorgeous and practical choice. You can grow this mix virtually anywhere. Plus, the blooms that blossom will display a wide variety of colors and shapes.- just gorgeous!
4.) Lavender Floral Sachets
Here at Cake and Lace, we love lavender! It’s the perfect scent, color, and style to compliment any vintage style wedding. These muslin style sacks below, encase beautifully fragrant dried lavender petals.
Your guests can then take these sachets home and put them in their clothes drawers. Perfect for keeping laundry smelling fresh!
Needless to say, if you’re going for a purple or lilac color scheme, then lavender bags are a great way of tieing your theme together.
5.) Evergreen Pine Sachets
If you’re thinking of throwing an enchanted woodland wedding or choosing a mountainous venue surrounded by rolling forests, then a pine sachet would be perfect!
These are incredibly unique, so I doubt your guests will see these coming!
In the below example, the bag is made from muslin (a material that’ll undoubtedly complement your rustic decor) and holds dried balsam pine tree petals.
These smell divine, just like fresh pine trees! Your guests can take home a little slice of your wedding, and whenever they smell an evergreen, they’ll think of the beautiful day you spent together. Needless to say, they won’t forget your event in a hurry!
6.) Trail Mix Bags
Arguably, this is one of the most unique weddings favors you’ll ever see. It’s doesn’t get much more rustic than trail mix. You could consider getting little burlap sacks and then filling them with tasty gourmet style trail mix- ideal for DIY brides!
If you and your partner have spent many a weekend together hiking, camping, and enjoying outdoorsy activities together, then this idea is perfect for making your wedding personal to you and your partner.
Handy advice if you’re buying pre-made trail mix favors:
- When purchasing trail mix favors always know precisely what’s in the ingredients. That way you can warn your guests in advance (in case anyone has an allergy). The last thing you want is to call an ambulance halfway through your wedding reception!
- How do the miniature sacks close?- This is good to know because you’ll need to make sure you can tightly seal the bags. Spilled trail mix over your beautiful table displays isn’t a good look! Perhaps ask to see a sample bag, before purchasing a large order? That way you can ensure the quality.
Invitations
Your wedding invitations are a great way to set the tone for your special day. So, if you’re going for the rustic look, be sure to pick invites that suit that vibe.
Below are a few designs that we think do the theme justice:
6.) Inspired by Birch Trees
We love that these invitations were inspired by birch trees. They’re beautifully designed and are perfect if you’re hosting an outdoor woodland wedding.
There’s nothing better than surrounding yourself in natures bounty. So, start as you mean to go on and try and incorporate trees into your design of choice.
Here’s a checklist of questions to consider before purchasing wedding invites:
- What cardstock will the design be printed on? You could have the prettiest invitations in the world, but if they’re printed on low-quality paper, your wedding invites will look cheap and nasty- not cool! You may want to consider asking for a sample of the cardstock beforehand so you can be sure of the quality, before making an order.
- Can you have the design printed on different colored card? Always make the time and effort to explore all your options. This is the only way to ensure you’ll get an invitation that fits the style and vibe of your special day.
- Can you change the font to suit the tone of your wedding?
- Is there a minimum order or do they come in sets? Don’t get caught out with this! It’s very easy to order way too much or too little accidentally; this will pose a logistical nightmare!
- Will they send you a digital proof of the design? Before your company of choice starts printing the invitations, make sure they send you over a digital proof. This way you can be sure you’re 100{0e676ec2f44ecabe7dbad24894a5f60517719a136bc7f0c20d97b4a1320db0ec} happy with the draft.
- Do matching envelopes come with your invitations? Do NOT forget to check this- there is nothing worse than realizing you’ve ordered hundreds of invitations to then realize you don’t have any suitable envelopes for them!
- Have you checked your spelling? Always proofread any customizations at least twice before submitting them. In addition to this, we recommend getting a fresh pair of eyes to look at it (just to be doubly sure). The last thing you want to happen is to order invitations with a typo because usually, there won’t be much you can do about it!
If you stick to the above advice, you shouldn’t go too far wrong!
What do you want included in your wedding invitations?
Obviously, you want the invitation card itself. However, have you considered whether you want any extra inserts? For example:
- A matching reply postcard
- A tag or insert to highlight additional information like your wedding hashtag, website, registry information, etc.
- A menu
- A timeline of the day
You get the idea!
7.) Vintage Garden
Alternatively, if you’re hosting a garden party for your reception, then you’ll want to go for an invitation that looks a little more refined.
If so, then a rustic looking design like the one below would be ideal. Especially, if you’re after a splash of vintage charm.
8.) Western Mountain Barn
Alternatively, if you’re thinking of having a country western barn-style wedding, then the fonts and logos used in the design below are an elegant choice.
It epitomizes everything that is rustic chic, and we love it! There’s even an adorable portrait of a little barn on the invitation card-how cute is that?!
Thank You Notes
Some people consider thank you notes outdated. However, here at Cake and Lace, we love them! Sometimes, a group thank you email just doesn’t cut it.
Thank you cards are a lovely way to personally say thank you to each and every one of your wedding guests. People really do appreciate them, so they’re definitely worth spending a bit of time and effort on. Plus, they round off your rustic chic theme perfectly!
Here are a couple of examples of thank you notes that we fell in love with. Enjoy!
