Jayne & Alex were married on a Sunday evening in December at Housing Works Bookstore in Soho. Since the sun sets around 4:30 in the winter here and we wouldn’t be at the bookstore until after dark we planned to do their first look and portraits up near their hotel in midtown a bit earlier while it was still a bit light out. Though the forecast called for rain most of the week we kept our fingers crossed and got lucky when Sunday rolled around– no rain during the time we had scheduled for our walk outside! Jayne and Alex used to meet up by the LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana, on the corner of 6th Avenue and 55th Street in Manhattan, which was just a block and a half from the hotel, so naturally, it was the ideal spot for their first look. Jayne looked incredible in her elegant long sleeve gown with gold and cream beadwork and we had no shortage of beautiful backdrops within the surrounding blocks– there were christmas lights and trees all over the place! After heading back to the hotel to meet up with their wedding party we were escorted to the top floor of Le Parker Meridian, where they had generously allowed us to make some group portraits. With that taken care of we all made our way down to SoHo for the main event. The bookstore was picture perfect and cozy as can be. After a beautifully performed ceremony with vows written by the couple themselves, guests were treated to a delicious feast at long tables filling the back of the bookstore. Highlights of the evening included a series of heartwarming toasts to this wonderful couple, a sweet first dance number, a beautiful wedding cake, and a delicious favor for every guest: Krispy Kreme Donuts boxed for the occasion! Congratulations to Jayne & Alex!
