from the planner/stylist… “With the impending winter almost upon us, textile designer Catherine and I knew that the moody hues of the season would drive our styled shoot. We dreamt of a ‘Misty Winter Coast’ filled with dark moody hues keeping company with light and delicate neutrals. New York City is a wonderful city with many buildings that contribute to its industrial and rustic beauty. The private event room at Berg’n was a blank slate with white and pale blue painted concrete brick walls – the perfect space for a backdrop and several other elements we had a vision for. The industrial elements of the space were softened with a tonal chiffon and tulle backdrop, hung from driftwood, designed and created by Catherine. The bottom of the ceremony site was accented with stones and black matte ceramic vases as a reminder of rocky coastlines.”
“Layers upon layers of fabric provided an opportunity for the (newly engaged!) bride and groom to play with the backdrop for some intimate shots. The bride wore an Alexandra Grecco gown in a delicate mossy grey and carried a bouquet of anemones, wild thistles, and romantic deep red roses. For the sweetheart table, we carried on the theme of contrasting textures. We incorporated handcrafted locally made linens, custom painted candles, and unexpected matte black details throughout. Mongolian wool pillows and a tasseled table runner would soften the driftwood elements and add depth to the dining experience. With just enough time to spare, destination photographer Kylee Yee went with the whole team to Pebble Beach to feature the final look and dress, an Ivory Silk Bridal Couture plunging grey silk and lace gown. The urban beach just happened to feature a rocky shore with winter temperatures that were authentic to the theme. When the smoke bombs went off, the bride and groom were transported from a normal sunset in Brooklyn to a truly mysterious and romantic Misty Winter Coast.”
