McKenna Cargle and Grant Jordan met the first time in October 2009, in College Station, Texas where McKenna was in her junior year at Texas A&M University. Grant was in his senior year at Oklahoma State University and had come to visit his friend Russell Liles for the Texas A&M vs. OSU football game. They met again in October 2013, at a Texas Aggie Halloween Happy Hour in Houston, Texas. They had both graduated and found themselves working in Houston. Grant graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was working as Field Engineer for Pentair and McKenna graduated with a degree in communications and was working as Promotions Manager at Houston’s Fox 26 KRIV Television Station. Grant was once again with his A&M friend, Russell Liles and recognized McKenna from that previous autumn meeting in College Station. McKenna was dressed up in a mermaid costume and Grant wasn’t about to let her “slip” away again, so they exchanged phone numbers and were pretty much inseparable after that.
