Talk about being resourceful! Today’s real-life sweethearts had to change plans (a big wedding has actually been arranged) because of the ongoing global pandemic. But in all honesty, Cake & Lace doesn’t see how an elopement could be made better! 👰⛰️🤵
From the Photographer & Planner, Vows and Peaks:
I met Virginia and Cody after they had to cancel their big wedding because of Covid. We all met up for a beer where we threw around ideas and instantly hit it off. I knew this was going to be epic after that first meeting.
We went over a number of ideas that afternoon before they settled on this awesome elopement spot right outside of their family home in Vail, Colorado. The weather was perfect as we set out that afternoon towards a secluded alpine lake that is a frequent spot for backpackers.
We arrived at the lake near Vail, Colorado where they settled into some spots behind the trees and got ready for their first looks! These are always my favorite as you get some pretty fun reactions from each person. These guys were especially excited after having to wait so long because of Covid!
After their first look, they shared their vows in front of some beautiful reflections before we explored the the surrounding area of the lake for more portrait photos. I surprised Cody with a cigar before they popped some champagne and drank some beers as the sun set above us.
I know that losing out on your wedding day hurts but this elopement was one hell of a backup option for these guys. I really couldn’t have asked for a more fun and couple to explore this scenic alpine lake with and the entire experience came together so quick and easy.
Virginia and Cody are going to be some lifer friends in my book. So excited to share the day and new friendship with them!
