from the planner & stylist (also the mother-to-be!)… “As a wedding and event planner, I simply could not help myself and had to design my own baby shower in honour of my little girl who was scheduled to arrive soon after the shower (she is here now & oh-so-perfect!). With a lot of help from amazing friends and family we transformed the space into an airy and feminine happy place. Hosted at the Kinsmen Banquet Centre in St. Albert, Alberta, we used the neutral white and grey backdrop of the venue and we added pastels in blush and lilac with subtle touches of gold for a soft and inviting feel fit for a little princess.”
“Tables were finished off with beautiful centrepieces of pink hydrangeas and lilac roses further complimenting the overall look and integrating the color scheme throughout. Inspired by Mom’s cupcake obsession, guests were gifted with cupcake kits as favours including chocolate, vanilla with sprinkles and even champagne flavours for at-home enjoyment when the craving hit. Beautiful passages, in hand calligraphy, from the book “Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You” greeted guests at the door and now hangs over baby girl’s crib.”
“The highlight for all was the sweets table, which offered a variety of desserts for guests to enjoy after the afternoon snacks. Intricately hand-sculpted sugar flowers graced the top of mini cakes spelling out B-A-B-Y, cupcakes, cake pops, petite fours and gorgeous sugar cookies. Guests were put to the test with games including a baby version of “The Price is Right’ & “Mom or Dad?” games with loose tea and chocolates awarded for the winners. Although planning and designing our wedding two years ago was an incredible experience, a different sort of love and excitement drove the creation of the simplicity and softness of a shower for our little girl.”
