They say that good things come when you aren’t looking for it, and Ashlee and Matt are no exception to that rule. Just three weeks before their wedding, Ashlee and Matt found themselves unexpectedly without a wedding photographer for their out of state destination wedding, thousands of miles from home (insert personal panic attack here because I have no idea how Ashlee must have felt!) Thankfully, Ashlee had booked the most amazing hair and makeup artist here in Tampa, Ashlee Ann, who I have grown to know and love through weddings and projects that we have collaborated on together. (Seriously she is so amazing- I am using for my own wedding as well. Ladies, if she isn’t booked for your day- book her!). When Ashlee Ann recommended her bride Ashlee (haha what are the chances they both spell their name the same?!) to check me out since she was in need of a photographer, Ashlee decided to trust me to photograph the memories that would hang on her wall for decades to come.
Despite only talking on the phone once with Ashlee before her on her wedding day, I felt like I knew her instantly. Her smile was the absolute warmest, kindest (and one of the most beautiful) smiles I have seen in a long time. Throughout the course of the day, getting to know Ashlee more made me so thankful that our paths had crossed despite all the bad that had happened to lead us to cross paths. After going through the trauma of replacing their photographer last minute, I knew that I wanted to love and serve Ashlee and Matt like no one had ever loved and served their clients before, but little did I know that they would be reciprocating the favor to me by being such dream clients.
And I don’t say they were dream clients just because of their jaw-dropping pink floral and chiffon wrapped archway. It wasn’t just because I got goosebumps and dreamt about marrying Jordon as I photographed their incredibly beautiful wedding. It wasn’t just because of how absolutely gorgeous Ashlee and Matt were or how stunning their images were turning out.
It was because as I photographed their wedding with the closest family and friends from around the country, I had a feeling in my heart that just reconfirmed that I was meant to be there- that no one else was going to love and serve them more than I would ever be able to in that moment.
They were dream clients because Ashlee and Matt’s love was raw and authentic. Matt, though a bit quiet at first, couldn’t help but to come out of his shell- probably because in the words of Matt, I run like I have had 7 5-hour energy’s- and my goodness was it magic having him comfortable in front of my camera despite never being there before their wedding. It was like they had done and engagement session with me and could just click instantaneously with me by knowing what I meant with posing and cuing. You would never guess that Ashlee claimed that they did not consider themselves to be photogenic to me, because not only are their images magical, but their images display the exact love, friendship, and legacy that they are building their new life upon.
